This week’s Top 20 most liked images on Edinburgh O’Clock bluesky account - 24 images every day - a fantastic random selection curated by an algorithm, then liked by followers on this bluesky account.
No.20 - The ancient capital of Dunfermline with 2 of the Forth Bridges and the Pentland Hills behind
No.19 - How many of you have stood swaying on rubber legs at this spot on a dreary night waiting for your turn to jump in a taxi? Caley Hotel, St Cuthberts and wur fortress.
No.18 - A Glesga sunrise with a swanny floatpast
No.17 - A fiery slope on Salisbury Crags with Edinburgh’s Old Town in the background. The gorse was aflame and 7 or 8 fire engines turned up to hose down the conflagration.
No.16 - Moon behind the castle
No.15 - This was an earlier abortive attempt to get my signature “Castle In The Air” shot from Arthur’s Seat. I climbed right to the summit to try and get above the cloud, but even tho’ I could see a clear starlit sky above me, I wasn’t quite high enough to look over the surface of the sea of haar. To save me going home with no pics at all I sat in my own composition with a headtorch on.
No.14 - same place different day, this time for a sunrise on a frosty morning.
No.13 - same hill, but this time looking up to this wee ridge as the moon rose behind it. The guy on the right spoke to me later, and he was a photographer called Mo. I got some other versions of this view published in several newspapers the next day & the mother of the young guy in the stripey top got in touch for a print.
No.12 - is an unusual view of a moonset that I’ve never repeated. I saw the moon setting when I was out in East Lothian and this was the best I could do on a roadside viewpoint. You can see Portobello esplanade at the bottom, Nelson Monument and the Balmoral Clock tower.
No.11 - Fettes College with a midsummer sky behind.
No.10 - these folk were standing on Salisbury Crags after sunset and I loved the sandwich of colours in the sky behind them.
No.9 - Old College on the skyline with a pregnant sky dropping its bairns on the city.
No.8 - the golden light of sunset beams on the sandstone of Edinburgh Castle with Falkland Hill over in Fife behind. Falkland Palace sits on the far side of the hill.
No.7 - during the Beast from the East storm outside the church in which I got married a whole quarter of a century ago. Viewforth Kirk is close to the Union Canal two streetlamps away from the church.
No.6 - just a wee bit up the road in Bruntsfield Links this is the next bench along from where my wife and I often meet for lunch. This one is too shaded for my sun-loving spouse.
No.5 - Bridge shadows - all three Forths.
No.4 - a chilly Greyfriars morning - this couple stood for at least the 30 seconds of this long exposure.
No. 3 - You know where this is, looking lush.
No.2 - Sunset blast from below the hills of the Trossachs and a St Giles on the city horizon of course.
No.1 - Granton view of Leith and Newhaven at sunrise.

The nicest set so far, I like number 7 as I used to love staying with my son just along from the wee corner shop in St Peter’s Place and walking along the canal. And number 2 because the colours are stunning 😍
Love that headlamp shot. (And the snow storm by a stone church.) love them all.
