This is my photography newsletter with fresh weekly photo stories of Edinburgh and beyond that you can get direct by email if you subscribe - free if you choose or pay a wee bit for extras
Someone emailed to suggest I add a wee tips payment option - for those of you who don’t want to subscribe but would like to offer something as a “Cheers mate, enjoyed that” option. So here it is.
10 years ago I had a plan - today it’s coming to fruition. I’m partly ashamed, mostly ashamed that it’s taken me so long, and a little bit pleased that the result is arguably better because of the delay (but I think I’m just trying to excuse myself from being a champion procrastinator.)
I’m launching a range of greeting cards. I’ve printed 58 designs to begin with (I will pepper this post with examples) and so will spend a hefty chunk of the summer inviting retailers to stock them. I also want to thank all of you subscribers and so will give everyone a discount code for sampling the 1st batch.
It seems such a simple thing, but I found a level of complexity, a series of hurdles, decision after decision that slowed me up and weighed heavily on my Pause button. Still, it was a bit of a shock when I discovered some notes I had from when I first started planning and researching…in 2014. Heavens to Betsy!
The first batch are heavily orientated to the Forth Bridges with 12 out of 58 designs featuring their various shapes and curves. There’s a good reason for that. I was approached by the good people down at The Railbridge Bistro to supply a range of prints and so the greeting card project shook off the dust and got moving again. If you like great food and drink with fantastic views please do drop in at their vista-tastic setting on the shore in Queensferry, and grab some TD cards while you’re there.
Choosing the first ones in the range was a mixture of pragmatism and curatorial randomness. The images that I’ve used in the last 4 years’ calendars were almost shovel-ready and so an obvious choice, but I also wanted to feature a smattering from most of the different areas I visit regularly.
Lastly, with an eye to a shop display setting, I also wanted a range of colours that sat well together, looked dramatic, looked like a set. Not everybody will connect with every image, but I think each chosen image has a high stickiness quotient.
I’ve chosen to print at A5 size and the cards are blank inside, and come with a choice of recycled brown kraft, or white envelopes. Everything is sustainable, recycled or recyclable, including the biodegradeable clear wraps that some retailers prefer to protect their stock.
To get yer mitts on the 1st batch I’d like to offer a special price for all subscribers to this newsletter. I’ve not got them on my website yet, so I have an online form where you can view them and select your favourites, and if you submit the form I will then prepare a wee online invoice for you. I have discounts for individual cards and mid to muckle batches.
Use the Discount Code: ThanksNeebs
The link is below for the Greeting Card Order form and the QR code should also work.

Please do share with your pals and do let me know if there is a fantastic card retailer near you who might want to add to their stock. Thanks in advance. TD
